But flip-flops don’t go away. They are everywhere, being sold in stores of all kinds, being worn in places of all kinds, and being discarded in all sorts of ways (all having those dumb little toe separators broken.) I think their being everywhere might be because a whole lot of other people find them fitting.
-----When Char and I went to the Grand Canyon, I took a pair of hiking boots she had given me. I had worn them briefly once last year on a camping trip. They fit snug and supported my ankles like nothing I’d ever worn before. But it was only briefly that I wore them. So, after walking Grand Canyon’s paths all day, I was a moaning mess who couldn’t get to the Flagstaff Wal-Mart fast enough where I gave twenty bucks for a pair of quite ordinary Ozark Trail outdoor shoes. Those hiking boots can now keep my flip-flops company, wherever they are.
-----Life is a giant venture made of all kinds of people having all kinds of purposes. I am glad life’s gear comes in varieties, too. So preparation as an activity might be quite similar amongst everyone, but preparation as to the supplies will be best left to the individual. It is by the love of God for each individual that flip-flops are not the only known footwear, or that Vaughn Miller isn’t somehow constrained to playing in clogs. We know by Romans 12, I Corinthians 12, and I Peter 4 that God gives abilities in variety. I would expect the readiness of the gospel fitting our feet to be correspondingly various.

Love you all,
Steve CoreySteve Coreynoreply@blogger.com
