Glorious Riches

Gift giving and receiving is often determined by what we feel are needs. I love the fact that it’s not just during the Christmas season, but rather throughout the life of the believer, that God meets all our needs. And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NIV)

Gail;

-----I’ve met a few folks who refuse to exchange gifts amongst their family members, instead buying gifts for other people in real need. There is a beautiful picture in this practice which I confess I do not do. It starts with what really is need. Some folks need a lot of what my family simply takes for granted, especially in these days when our economy is burning upon the altar of political gods. Here on earth, even in the greatest of economies, we people sorely need what just comes natural in heaven: genuine love. We celebrate Christmas as the birth of the hero who made God’s love enterable. He’s more properly called The Messiah. And all other things we think we need on earth are really not needs. Only being able to enter and be a part of God’s love is. Then the rest of the picture is in whose hands do the gifting. God certainly provides the gifts, but He rarely delivers them by His own hand. Most always couriers bear God’s gifts. And often those couriers are people who have come to God to belong to Him and grow up into being like Him. So the meeting of needs according to the glorious riches of Christ is not only the glorious riches given, but also His glorious riches, His adoptive brethren, being couriers.

Love you all,
