Open My Eyes

Recently I interviewed a woman whose unstructured personality was filled with enthusiasm, inspiration and motivation. Her spiritual compass included being open to any creative force that keeps ideas, imagination and creative juices flowing. Offering a unique perspective she said, “Everything I need is right in front of me; everyone I need is right in front of me — I just have to open my eyes and see.” While I don’t subscribe to her view on spirituality, I’m intrigued by the resolve that she is fully equipped for whatever comes her way. As believers we are so busy trying to equip ourselves for the Lord’s work that we fail to see He has already given us everything we need to be successful. The message in Michael W. Smith’s song, “Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord” is about our seeing the Lord. For many of us, seeing the Lord is not the issue; the issue is seeing what He wants us to accomplish.

Gail;

-----I agree with her, “…any creative force that keeps ideas, imagination, and creative juices flowing,” expands and builds upon who and what you are. And everything you need to enormously inflate yourself through experience is right there in front of you. I know a man who is so enormously inflated by his own successes and creative juices that he proudly dismisses Jesus based upon what he has never seen. Now that‘s creative!
-----Worse yet, those creative forces have been killing multitudes ever since Cain got the bright idea to beat the stuffing out of his brother’s head. Murder plots in search of utopia never got more grand than Hitler’s. Yet his is soon to be topped by the “purity and holiness” of Allah. “Nobody’s idea is better than mine!” is the little deception that’s been wreaking mayhem on earth ever since the snake convinced Eve to hold his idea higher than God’s. Murder, theft, and bullyhood (the opposite of neighborhood and brotherhood) never fed on better sugar and protein than the powers of one’s own mind. It is uncannily common for man to think assuredly he is right in his own ways.
-----Yet, nobody can create his own way out of death, though escaping death is everything we need. But He excuses everyone from eternal death who has all they need inside them: thirst for righteousness; sincerity to search for it; humility to test and filter experiences, creativity, imagination, ideas, and feelings for its truth; wisdom to lay down one’s own self for the Word of Truth found, and the Holy Spirit sealing within their hearts and minds what right they‘ve found. These are the only Creative Juices anyone needs. All other juice is deceptively spoilt. All other needs are misunderstood wants. His will is within and before us who call on Christ Jesus as our only need.

Love you all,
