Luke opens
his Gospel with his purpose for writing, the intended audience, and his
methodology in approaching the subject. Doctor Luke said, “Many have undertaken
to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were
eyewitnesses and servants of the word” (Luke 1:1-2 NIV). We may
not be eyewitnesses, but those in this generation who diligently study the
Bible are indeed servants of the Word.
