Regain My Sight
There are many references in Scripture to being both physically and spiritually blind. When those who were physically blind came to Jesus their request was, “Lord, I want my sight.” The Pharisees on the other hand were spiritually blind didn’t even know well enough to ask for their sight. Growing as believer I know I still have a certain level of immaturity in some areas of my walk. I know I may not always see perfectly well, however it’s never crossed my mind that in some instances I could be spiritually blind. I might do well to begin my day by saying, “Lord, I want my sight.”

-----Jesus had 20/20 spiritual vision. He was perfect. We are not. That is why the end of His physical life on the cross has an effect for the beginning of our eternal lives after death. So to be honest, every one of us must say we do not spiritually see as perfectly well as did Jesus.
-----But Jesus does heal the weakness of our spiritual vision. It is just not an instantaneous and complete healing. Nor is it a healing that happens without our participation in its process. The more we desire its healing, the more likely it will be. But the more effort we invest from that desire, the faster the healing actually occurs.
-----I have never fully understood the concept of corrective lenses. And I have never been entirely sure they work. But the concept and theory at least offers a decent analogy. Supposedly the more a child wears them, the better his vision becomes. But certainly, the more His child wears the attitudes of the new life, the better the spiritual vision becomes. It is not enough to just desire to be kinder and gentler, more forgiving and forbearing, and more honoring and respectful. It is not enough to just desire to return good for evil, to love those who cause difficulty, to be patient with them, and to be compassionate and humble, or to just desire to be meek and submissive, peaceable and bold, and responsible and charitable. But these things and many more - joy and patience and goodness, faithfulness, self-control, and love - are all elements of the spiritual corrective lenses we must actually put on out of that desire. Then seeing the effects upon events and circumstances in our lives made by these corrective lenses sharpens our spiritual vision. At the end of this corrupt age, when we put on our incorruptible and eternal bodies, by the perfect vision we will then have we will realize how short of 20/20 our vision now was, and how much actual effort was required to improve it, and why Jesus did not miraculously heal it sooner.
