Foot in Mouth
The last few years a local letter-to-the-editor
writer has gotten away with spewing toxic waste on conservatives, Republicans
and Christians. Interestingly, it is people of faith who began standing up to
her by responding to her letters. Those “calling her out” seem to be hitting a
nerve because she is now complaining that her objectors are simply not
intuitive enough to realize her comments were tongue-in-cheek. Granted, tongue-in-cheek may be hard to
identify, but most of us know foot-in-mouth when we see it. Jesus said, “But I
tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every
careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will
be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matt 12:36-37 NIV)

Gail;
-----The day of judgment will be a most interesting phenomenon. The popular idea is that nobody knows the truth because the truth can’t be known completely. It overlooks (probably with intension) the very obvious and simple reality that the truth of anything is sufficiently knowable to determine right from wrong in most situations well enough to do right. I believe the Day of Judgment will be the day when the truth about everything will become unavoidably apparent and will sit beside the words and deeds people spoke and did. The contrasts will be striking wherever there are words and deeds to sit beside, for some people will be there with all those washed away.
Love you all,
Steve Corey
