Shades of Ego
I attended a gathering where
people in the audience were given an opportunity to speak from the floor. Once
again I watched as a speaker waved off the program host saying, “No, I don’t
need a mic, everyone can hear me.” Invariably impassioned words fail to reach
the entire audience because of the speaker’s overconfidence in his abilities. “Like
clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not give” (Proverbs
25:14 NIV).

-----Your sharing these experiences with us is really educational. I never perceived there was such a wide variety in the way church is done. This church seems particularly patterned after the glimpse of Corinthian church service Paul showed in I Corinthians 14. I’ve always advocated for more of that style in the church, but your little glimpse of it set in reality seems to be cooling my heels.
