Jesus was
before Pilate and he said to the crowd, “I find no basis for a charge against
him. But it is your custom for me to release to you one
prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of
the Jews’?” They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas” (John
18:38b-40a NIV)! It gives me pause to think that many believers shout a similar
message today on Sunday mornings. Rather than wanting to hear a message about
Jesus Christ, they insist on entertainment, being active in social causes and starting
a new church program. We should be shouting, “Give us Jesus!”
