Last week a
family member asked me to pray for the friend of her co-worker who was
hospitalized with seizures. Of course, I said yes, but I also asked if the
patient was a believer. I know the recipient of my prayers doesn’t have to be a
believer, but that information helps me pray appropriately. For instance, someone’s
spiritual health and relationship to the Lord takes priority over physical health.
Jesus said, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the
soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matt
10:28 NIV).
