When did they do that?

I remember a time when the minutes of the elder’s meetings were posted and members were able to stay apprised of decisions made for the congregation. Today when policies and procedures change we’re left scratching our heads and asking, “When did they do that?” Lack of communication is one of our biggest struggles within the church…at least that’s the case in my church. Have you ever noticed that volunteers don’t play well with leaders who come across as dictators?

Gail;
- I have thought hard for the last few years upon what might lead good men to act with such deceit, selfish ambition, and vein conceit as is implied in the practice of stealth leadership. I am beginning to conclude that contemporary leaders must truly believe that they think closer to the mind of God than the rest of us. Evidently, they honestly believe that what they have to offer the church is ultimately vital to any possibility of God being able to move forward in His plan of salvation. Therefore it is ultimately vital for them to be in total control of the church. They know that their ideas will receive backpressure and opposition from church members who are more inclined to do things the way they have always done them (especially when those ways are still working). Worse yet, if that backpressure becomes too intense and too Scriptural, they may lose their high elder chairs and ministerial jobs. And that can not be allowed because, of course, thay are the only ones who know what God needs in order to move His plan of salvation forward.
- The rest of us only know the Bible, and that's why we get so frustrated with contemporary leaders.
