Servant of All
In an effort to reach out to school children there is a video that has actors giving their support the President and then encouraging our youth to make a pledge to serve Obama. I heard a great response from one commentator who pointed out, “When the President took the oath of office he pledged to serve us. We don’t pledge to serve him.” I think the Obama public relations team might learn something from Scripture, “…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matt 20:26-28 NIV)

-----I think you miss a couple important points. First, Jesus spoke to those who would listen to Him, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Matt 11:15) Tens of thousands of people bustled about doing their business and living their lives while Jesus spoke these words to small crowds who would stop and listen. These principles were for them to live; they were to form the substance of those who followed Jesus, because they were the eternal principles that would not be destroyed with this present age. It isn’t that they don’t apply to everyone, it is that not everyone will apply them now. Paul clarifies the situation further in I Corinthians 5:9-11, “I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with immoral men; not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But rather I wrote to you not to associate with any one who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber—not even to eat with such a one.” Those who hold to Jesus Christ are currently held to Jesus’ standards, those who do not hold to His standards will only in the end be held to them. For now, they get what they choose.
-----The second point is that Obama and his public relations team have not chosen honesty. The Whitehouse, Senate, House of Representatives, most Federal Judicial seats, and their counterparts in most states throughout this ailing country are now held by members of the party of fraud and deceit. They are of the party that for thirty seven years has cried, “A woman’s right to choose…,” but has railed against, “…to kill her unborn child.” This party swore unity with the administration in October, 2001, and shrieked lies about him for the seven following years. This is the party that has made much pomp and ceremony over the evils of slavery, yet works vociferously to enslave the wealthy to the poor. It is the party which expects the goose to continue laying golden eggs, but screams bloody murder if it sees the goose eating the gold it needs to make the eggs. While it was twisting the arm of the banking industry to grant loans to folks who could not pay them back, the party of fraud and deceit convinced the American people that the other party was the culture of corruption. Feeling the birth-pains of a banking system bloated with bad loans, the electorate ate up this guy’s hollow howl for change. Consequently, today we have outright liars running our country - not the change the people voted for, but the change the party of deceit hid in mind. And we expect Obama to hear the words of Christ and be our servant? Obama did not run to serve, he ran to solidify forever the power in the hands of his party, to assure government by deception of the people, and to create the soft tyranny which this Tuesday will call for the children to serve him.
-----Too many people with eyes to see are beginning to see. MSNBC ran a story over the weekend about several mid-West states encouraging their school districts to opt out of Obama’s fascist message. In the Senate, low level rumblings have been heard to repeal the Economic Stimulus Plan, as it is called, the Economic Simulator Plan, as it really is. Obama’s back-peddling on the Health Scare Bill is additional evidence that a few seams of his sheep’s clothing have unraveled enough for those with eyes to see to recognize the wolf inside. As this tyrant comes more and more into the light, it becomes more and more important that we remember, it is not him or his legislation that is the issue we must expose, but it is the deceit of the party which breathed into him political life.
