Connection

I know some folks who use their Internet so infrequently that if they were to lose service they wouldn’t even notice. Not so for those of us who consistently use our computers. If I lose Internet service I’m checking the computer every few minutes to see if my service provider has me back up and running. I think the same can be said about our relationship with the Spirit. Some of us don’t even realize when were disconnected, while others are so dependent on the Spirit that we put ourselves in a tizzy if we feel we’ve lost the connection. Who knows, maybe the Lord let us experience a few glitches just because He like us checking in with Him every few minutes.

Gail;

-----I am thankful the primary reason for His Spirit indwelling us is to seal the deal for our souls. This end of the connection is always there. I don’t mean to discount your internet analogy, because it is a very good one, but I believe His end of the connection is always available like a perfect internet service provider that never goes down. We try to surf His web of truth with faulty equipment and unskilled technique on our end. So, although His signal is always available for our use, He neither miraculously repairs our equipment nor upgrades our techniques beyond what is necessary for Him to make His signal present. But within His signal are instructions for us to use for maintaining and upgrading our own equipment and skills. He gives us the freedom to search His instructions and maintain our end of the connection at our will. He even gives us the freedom to search signals from sources other than His, although He warns us in His instructions of the deadly, new-life-ending viruses that easily download from those sources. He strongly advises us to not only stay logged onto His signal, but also to implement the upgrades it recommends.
-----But this is where the analogy begins to run dry of benefit. We are like school children who need to sit in the classroom of His Spirit for training, then must be released onto the twisted streets of life in order to acquire the goods and supplies of physical survival. While on those streets, we are responsible for utilizing whatever education we gained from being attentive in the classroom. There is so much hustle and bustle in the marketplaces that it becomes very easy to loose conscious track of our classroom experiences. In fact, until we learn to apply to our street experiences both the education learned in class and the emotional responses we received from it, that classroom atmosphere will seem unnatural and out of place on the streets and will be easily diluted and washed out by the commotion. The less we attend class, the more of its atmosphere is washed out from our hearts.
-----We need that atmosphere in order to perceive His involvement in the hustle and bustle of the world outside the classroom. He is involved out there. In fact, as confusing as it all appears, it is actually an enormously complicated tapestry happening to achieve His purposes, and we all have a better fit within it than we already have that He more desires for us. Although much of that fit He graciously brings about Himself, some of it depends upon our ability to perceive certain patterns within the confusion and to respond appropriately. The more we do this the more the classroom atmosphere merges back into our consciousness and the more we perceive a connection with His Spirit. So I see our consciousness of the Spirit’s presence as being the results of our practicing His messages as well as going to class. The more we do these, and the more accurately we do them, the better we are able to perceive patterns of His stitching within the confusion of the tapestry, and the greater will be our resulting sense of His involvement in our lives.

Love you all,
