Rusty Treasures

We are getting new siding on our house and we’ve made an unconventional decision to do the entire house in rusted metal. We have panels of corrugated iron strewn all over the yard and Bill is hastening the rusting process by applying muriatic acid and water. Watching more rust appear hourly gives me a whole new perspective as to what God sees when he looks at my earthly treasures. “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matt 6:20-21 NIV)

Gail;

-----”My son, if you receive My words and treasure up My commandments with you...yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” (Prov 2:1-5) God told Moses to tell the Israelites in Egypt that “I AM THAT I AM” sent him. God is what He is. We do not - we can not - make Him up in our own minds. We can only learn Him, and He has given us words by which that learning begins. But the beginning of the learning will go nowhere to what God is without the desire, the actual compelling drive to know Him, not what we might think about Him.
-----So the treasure is who God is. But the gaining of this wealth can no more come by alchemy than the efforts of the alchemists could make gold from lead. The vast dump of god-thoughts the world became before man even began writing ideas on stones, clay tablets, and parchments obscured the truths about God as much as all the dirt and rocks obscure gold dust and diamonds. If one must have gold and diamonds, to want them is not enough. Those who have gold and diamonds were compelled by a drive to take up picks and shovels and invest their lives in a search while crying out for where to dig. And those who invested in alchemy labs have lead.
-----“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal...For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Mat 6:19 and 21) Laying up treasures upon earth goes far beyond only seeking money and riches. Laying up on earth is investment in self whether it be acquiring stuff for self or acquiring concepts for self. On earth is where make-believe happens. The difference between the treasure upon earth and the treasure in heaven is how it relates to God, as He is. One can relate his stuff upon earth to his make-believe god by giving it all to the poor and still only have spiritual treasure upon earth, and non in heaven where I AM is.
-----But is not charity good? No. “If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.” (I Cor 13:3) Only God is good. And God is love. Therefore love is good. Charity is merely and expression of love. Then love’s expression through charity is good. “The good man out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil.” (Mat 12:35) They can each be bringing forth charity or knowledge, but only the man who brings forth from His treasuring of I AM has brought forth good.
-----“Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw - each man’s work will become manifest; for The Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire...If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.” (I Cor 3:12-13 and 15) This is a peep-hole into I AM. His love wants you even more than your treasure. His grace through Christ is the first speck of gold in your treasury, and it is the map marking the spot where you can pick and dig for the rest of the gold and diamonds.

Love you all,
