Changing Their Tune
Recently, while traveling to Australia, a country western
singer/songwriter had a bad experience with an airline. Not only was he
overcharged on his luggage containing his CD inventory, but the luggage was
then lost. His efforts for reimbursement fell on deaf ears until he wrote a
song about the experience. When the song became public, the airlines immediately made
a reimbursement of $2,500. It’s amazing how quickly we change our tune when we
are faced with exposure. “There is nothing concealed
that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.” (Luke
12:2 NIV)

Gail;
-----We make a big deal over all concealed and hidden things being made known. In truth, very little of the hidden and concealed is revealed. And even less will be revealed as deceit ingrains itself ever deeper into the operational methods of the world. Government is the worst offender. Non-profit “save the world” organizations run a close second, and mega-corporate business is keeping up with them both. These dance a sort of unholy Tango-for-three behind the scenes, each plying its abilities to sustain the dance for what it gets back. Environmental risks discovered by non-profit research funded with fines paid by businesses in violation of meticulously scrupulous, governmental regulations (regarding land use, let’s say) diminishes available land for housing, which drives prices through the roof and pleases certain developers and real estate agents alike to the point that they go into government back rooms supporting more regulation while complaining about regulation in open, public sight. Heavily regulated markets force smaller businesses out of business by the exorbitant costs of compliance which mega-corporations can easily afford. Thus, the politician has an unending source of campaign funds available from the mega-corporations seeking more market protective regulation. And non-profit research generates unending lists of world ailments for which politicians can skillfully create “solutions” that will consequently secure markets for big-business on one hand, yet will fail to solve problems on the other (thus preserving the crisis to generate more grants, more studies, more campaign contributions, and more regulations tomorrow.) And this example is only a thin sliver of it all. The whole world is now teetering under the weight of its own, enormous deceit and self-serving treachery.
-----Like so many of the Bible’s promises, this one just does not fit the world today as God has allowed it to become. It can not deliver now because the world is now an operation of concealment and deceit. Every hidden thing will be revealed before the Great Judge after today has been ended. The promise goes beyond just giving exposure to all deceit then. It is as much about a coming righteous, social situation that will itself reveal the concealed and hidden things of chicanery. And maybe the best thing about the promise is that it is a promise. God makes good on His promises, and His promises always increase our situations in Him. Not only will our situations in Him be greatly increased at the fulfillment of this promise, but the significance of today is greatly diminished by what awaits for us then.
Love you all,
Steve Corey
