Greater Than, Less Than

In today’s society it seems common practice for people to value themselves above others. As an example of humble service Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to show them what they should do for others. I’d always felt Jesus reinforced his illustration when he told the disciples what they already knew, “I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him” (John 13:16 NIV). However, I now believe those in Jesus’ time were as self-centered as we are today. Apparently this truth revealed by Jesus was a new teaching, “Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them” (vs 17).

Gail;

-----I think one of the sayings I bore people with the most is, “Nothing in this world is homogenous, everything is a mixture of good and bad.” Even liberals are, who run around with all their “equality” falderal.
-----But is all their “equality” falderal really that falderalderly? If everyone were the sum total of two people, and everyone counted others better than themselves, then who would actually be better than anyone else? Wouldn’t they all be equal in each other’s estimations?
-----But then, there is falderal in counting yourself equal with everyone else such that you are entitled to empower the government to take from them to give unto thy self. A little good, a little bad. We may as well listen to the Word’s estimation of equality and count others as better than thy self. Even though that will never make equality in this world as filled with piggy like people. It’s good in that we will have done our part. It’s bad that for the most part, we will stay where we estimated ourselves, less than others, till the Lord returns and fixes the whole mechanism of everything.

Love you all,
