One of my friends apparently
signed up by accident for the online game Candy Crush. There are well over 2,00
levels to the game and when I play a pop-up will ask if I want to help friends out
by sending them an extra life. The game keeps soliciting help for Ron who,
unbeknownst to him, remains stuck on level one. It occurs to me that I have a
few friends and loved ones who are spiritually in a similar situation. They may
have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, but they just don’t appear to move
beyond level one. Peter said, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen” (2 Peter
3:18 NIV).

Gail;
-----I am not sure the child’s plea for mercy because of how much the spanking will hurt would impress me very much. That a child does not want pain is natural to the good and bad alike. God is no fool. Everything He does has consequences too. Blessing the wicked will only increase wickedness. And if the wicked see their retribution coming, they will feign righteousness real quick for a blessing.
-----God makes it to rain and shine on the good and the bad alike. But like He does not bless the wicked, He does not reward faith that is only a pillow for the butt before the spanking. It is the substance of the heart that counts.
-----Even though we are all quite short of the insight, wisdom, and knowledge that are truly available for those who love the Lord, and thus do bone-headed things we should not, God blesses us when we desire to be righteous in our hearts. The more we sincerely desire righteousness, the more He blesses us. And the bigger part of the reason we are blessed for desiring righteousness is , “4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Ps 37:4) If there is ever a “vicious circle” to get tangled up in, it is that one!
Love you all,
