Exposure

The careers of politicians and high-profile personalities continue to topple as their past indiscretions, domestic abuse and adultery are exposed. On the one hand I’m getting weary of all the dirty laundry; however, when I look at each situation through a spiritual lens I see God’s hand. Jesus taught that no one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or under a bed. In my mind the accompanying verse that follows can be seen as a warning, as well as a word of encouragement. “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open” (Luke 8:17 NIV).

Gail;

-----We shoot all of our allies when we require perfection of their past. We lynch the strongest of righteousness’ forces when we fail to recognize the holy substance of a repentant life. The mind is a funny thing. When it turns its values upside down it views all its past in a new light. It actually does see things differently. People really do change. And they are very valuable after change, for having been the enemy, the changed ones now know the ways and weaknesses of the enemy.
-----Besides, most of these witch hunts are only for political ends. They have nothing to do with elevating the spiritual dimensions of the public. If there were any righteousness at all involved, they would not drag their captives into the public for mob justice. If elevating godliness of the public were the motivation, then many decades ago the insanity of murdering the most helpless in the expected place of most care would have been kept illegal. If these public lynchings were coming from a spirit of elevating public godliness, then the press would be discussing the nightmare of 15 million or more scoff-laws dreaming their way into our social fabric. The witch hunts have everything to do with elevating the public’s fear of and obedience to a press colluding with political machinery for social justice, economic justice, and well, the justice of beating the hell out of anyone “We” say is bad. The bullyhood, I call “We“.
-----The minions of the bullyhood probably do think they are doing public good. And some of the witch hunting certainly is doing good. Everyone has known for decades that when Hollywood’s career elevator opens for women, there’s a bed in it. It’s refreshing to know that elevator is now being run by Lorena Bobbitt.
-----We all need to remember that the whole of human life is floating on one ship. We keep engaging in these witch hunts and carelessly throwing people overboard when we really need to be enlisting all the help we can muster for getting people into the life boats. The ship isn’t sinking because somewhere on board there’s a Jonah. It’s sinking because the first pilot’s wife steered it into an iceberg. There’s no longer anything we can do about that. Let’s work on getting those life boats filled.
-----”Let God be true although every man is false.” (Romans 3:4)

Love you all,
