Redefining Sin
In an interview on Fox News
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expound on the Pope’s US speech. Kennedy’s interpretation
is that climate change is a moral issue and the Pope placed it in the category
of sin — the sin of global warming; the sin of pollution. Jesus talked about those
who would burden us with undue and heavy loads. He said, “The teachers of the
law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must obey them
and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not
practice what they preach. They tie up heavy loads and put them
on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to
move them” (Matt 23:2-4 NIV).

-----Redefinition is a useful tool. Note also that it is a destructive weapon, as well as a contaminated trap. Whichever it is at any given moment depends upon the purpose calling it forth. What is Kennedy’s purpose? You would have to ask him to know for sure. But then again, he would have to answer honestly to tell you for sure.
-----The cherry tree grows more cherries than your apron will hold. And when cherries are needed cherries are picked. By the fact nobody’s apron holds the entire tree-full of cherries, and everyone needs cherries for thinking and deciding, so everyone picks cherries. It’s just a fact of life’s nature of limitation. Then a man’s soul is not known by the fact that he picks cherries in his thinking, for as you can see, so do we all. A man’s soul is seen in how he selects the cherries he picks. Some pick only those they like. Others pick at random. The Lord teaches to pick by integrity.
-----I love the concept of integrity. Integrity is what holds something together through common substance. It is a strength through consistency, a toughness had by the approximation of truth. And the more proximate to truth one constructs his being, the tougher his being becomes against the attacks of fraud, deceit, and well, sin in general. Test the concept. What is truth? Ultimately, Jesus. And what does Jesus bring? Not just a good feeling. But also salvation, which is a gradual escape from sin now, “And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being changed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit,” (II Cor 3:18) as well as a quick delivery at death or rapture. This escape from sin now is a leading by the Holy Spirit into knowledge and wisdom, a kind of redefinition of what you know, and even more importantly, a redefinition of what you want to know. He grows in you discernment for distinguishing the interrelationships of cherries and leaves it to you to desire the distinctions which interrelate reality, the truth, God’s Word speaking to your world, Jesus. The more you love truth and righteousness, the more you’ll be able to distinguish cherries. It just works that way -systematically- because truth has awareness. One relevant cherry will cue the truth loving mind to the next relevant one, and so forth.
-----That’s the way to pick cherries. Do it with truth in the heart. But with deceit in the heart, cherries are picked according to the utility they lend in forming your own perverted picture of “reality.” It also grows an “integrity” of its own, a strength of deceitful webbing amidst a chaotic devouring, rather like being restrained within a school of piranha. It is not an integrity of consistency; it is an integrity of constant overwhelming. It seeks to fill your apron with cherries worthless to the truth but useful towards a common deceit. And why a common deceit? Because the appearance of many holding to one lie mimics the integrity of truth and destroys the people.
-----When you go to the cherry tree testing Kennedy’s pontificated claims, go there with love in your heart for the truth and a deep and sincere desire to know it. Know that your apron also falls short of holding the whole tree-full of cherries. So look for the facts the truth being raised in you picks, not for the ones you like, or the ones Al Gore likes, or B. Hussein O., or any other pontificator. You’ve got a Bible. You’ve got the Lord. You’ve got eyes and ears and freedom to focus them. Desire the truth; work hard to find it; and it will find you (Prov 2:1-8.)
