After Peter denied
the Lord three times, “The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter
remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows
today, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept
bitterly”” (Luke 22:61-62 NIV). In my mind this has always been a powerful and
intimate moment between Jesus and Peter. However, the only reason Peter was even
allowed into the court of the high priest was because John (presumably) was
known to the high priest (John 18:15-18). Although it’s not stated, it seems
apparent that John, a fellow disciple, actually witnessed Peter’s denial.
