Refreshed

When I think about something being refreshed my mind goes to the icon on my computer, the pine scented air-freshener hanging from a rear view car mirror or to Sunday morning worship. I’ve not really considered that some of my fellow believers are actually in the refreshment business. In writing to Philemon, Paul said, “Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.” (Philemon 1:7 NIV)

Gail;

-----Thoughts, concepts, and feelings about particular things are like bricks in a wall. General emotional states and attitudes are like mortar and layout. The same bricks can build either a fortress wall or a prison wall. Certainly the evangelistic call to accept Christ is as important to a life as the starter’s gun is to a race. But the encouragement, honor, and kindness we show one another thereafter are like the steps without which there is no race. These attitudes and emotional states towards one another help us to keep our walls “fortressy”. There is a reason way Paul included joy in the definition of the kingdom of heaven.

Love you all,
