Spiritually Asleep

Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue, pleaded with Jesus to come to his house because his only daughter was dying. As Jairus made his plea word came that his daughter had already died. Jesus went on to the house and when he arrived people were wailing and mourning. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep” (Luke 8:52b NIV). It occurs to me that we might diagnose those who blatantly reject Jesus as being spiritually dead; however, Jesus might see them as simply being asleep.

Gail;

-----Jesus has the book which tells the difference between who is really dead and who is really just asleep: “…every one whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb…” (Rev 13:8) Many people deny the Lord today who will wake up tomorrow acknowledging Him. That their day of awakening hasn’t come does not mean their names are not written in the Lamb’s book of life. Nor does their names being written there mean they are predestined to acknowledge Him. It simply means God dwells outside the bounds of time, so He can have a book written yesterday about tomorrow. Gee? Isn’t the Bible kind of like that?
