Modern Day Jonah

Next year my friends need to relocate to be closer to their adult children and their choices are North Dakota, where they have never lived; or Wisconsin, where they were from originally. Laurie said, “Wisconsin has become so liberal that it would be really hard for me to go back.” I understand her desire to live in a conservative community with people of like faith and I suspect most of us would feel the same way. However, I remember Jonah and his resistance to go to Nineveh and proclaim the message the Lord had for that community. The Lord said to Jonah, “But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city” (Jonah 4:11 NIV)?

Gail;

-----Nineveh was a long time ago, more than several acts of this play previous. Jonah was a specific servant of the Lord so much required to take a particular message to Nineveh that God prepared a large fish to fetch him back. I am sure that, if your friend chose North Dakota the Lord would not send a giant buffalo to swallow her for spitting her up in Wisconsin. We are in a very different act of God’s play, now.
-----Besides, if preaching to the wayward is the point, this entire nation has become Nineveh post-Jonah. I think its Jonah has already happened. Do we forget that God also gave Nahum a message to speak? “Nineveh is like a pool whose waters run away. ‘Halt! Halt!’ they cry; but none turns back. Plunder the silver, plunder the gold! There is no end of treasure, or wealth of every precious thing. Desolate! Desolation and ruin! Hearts faint and knees tremble, anguish is on all loins, all faces grow pale…Behold, I am against you, says the LORD of hosts, and I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall no more be heard.” (Nahum 2:8-10,13)
-----Jonathan Cahn brilliantly linked America’s past dedication to the Lord at St Paul’s Chapel with the Sept11th attack as a warning for America to return to its faith in the Lord. Nobody listened. At least nobody of effective importance or no number sufficient to begin a surge back to the Lord. America voted for left-wing radicalism in 2006, renewed that dedication with another vote for it in 2008, and in 2012 voted a return to its vomit irregardless of known fraud, deceit, and lies. NO. The message for today’s America is not that of Jonah. It is that of Nahum.
-----Bill Federer, author and American historian, wrote yesterday of the growing Muslim interest in the American Indians. The Turkish Coalition of America has been showing a great deal of interest in the Indians since before 2008. They are not only reaching out to the Indians with educational programs (you know these lessens are neither Christian nor American civics,) and their 990 forms show that they have been flying Indian tribal leaders on “educational travel” to Turkey. This is where it pays to not only know some history about Turkey (let’s say, maybe back to AD1360) but also a little bit about Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s prime minister. “Turkey’s advances into the Native American tribes are promoted by Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan and his Islamist Justice and Development party (AKP) who have been moving Turkey towards being an Islamic state. Erdogan is reportedly positioning himself to be considered as the caliph of the reemerging Islamic Caliphate.” (American Minute: Are Muslims Infiltrating American Indians? WND.com. 08-29-16) What on earth would Muslims want with American Indians? Maybe a great source of subversive sentiment inside the heart of the Little Satan?
-----When I was in college I became irresponsive to my alarm clock. I rigged a two-clapper utility bell into my radio-clock alarm and hung it two feet over my pillow. The first morning I used it, I slept through it forty-five minutes. When I note the church’s response to this rising tide of Islamic infiltration throughout the world, I see the contemporary church sleeping soundly through that screaming utility bell. Come on, leaders! The Lord’s lambs need encouragement and strengthening of faith for the very, very, VERY difficult times quickly coming. Get out of bed and address the issue finally!

Love you all,
