The Word of the Lord

I’ve just discovered how often the phrase, “The Word of the Lord came to me…” appears in the major and minor prophets. As a mature believer I’m familiar with Scripture coming to mind at just the right time for the needed situation. However, I’ve not considered that, like waiting for an expected phone call, I should be waiting for and recognizing the Word of the Lord coming to me on a daily basis.

Gail;

-----The Word of the Lord didn’t come to those prophets by them sitting down and opening their Bibles. Nor did it come to them while they were working in the form of a recollection of some previously memorized scripture. These were godly hearted men perplexed by the impious selfishness permeating life around them. They were like spiritual antennae tuned in to God’s channel during the night storm. The signals they picked up were ideas God wanted them to think about, speak forth, and write down for His generations to come. The Word of the Lord coming to them was new adventure God molded from their fear and knowledge of Him.
-----That same fear and knowledge of God reacting against life’s evils makes us antennae in the night storm for His Word as well. It also generates thought within us to ponder, speak, and even write. But for us, His Holy Word was written by them. We don’t enjoy the same adventure they must have felt when struck by these immense epiphanies and visions. But the more we make ourselves antennae for God’s Holy Word, the greater adventure His Holy Spirit makes of that Word filtering into the intimate minutia of our lives, taking even our most subtle thoughts and emotions captive to His realities to make good deeds of all we do.

Love you all,
