Political activists
continue to stifle conservatives by getting in the face of those who’s message
they want to thwart. While some use a bullhorn as their weapon of choice to
shout down and break the eardrums of those they oppose, others simply do not
let them have a platform. Peter and John experienced similar opposition to their
message. When the Sanhedrin realized the disciples were unschooled and ordinary
men their tactic was to bully and give them a warning, “Then they called them
in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But
Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s
sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what
we have seen and heard”” (Acts 4:18-20 NIV). All believers are called to speak
out and not be bullied.
