On more than
one occasion Jesus read or reference a passage of Scripture and then He told
those listening He was the fulfillment of that Scripture. When I read the Bible, I look for ways to apply the Word
to my life, but I’ve never consciously looked for instances where I too am the fulfillment
of Scripture. Paul said, “Consider Abraham: “He believed God, and it was
credited to him as righteousness.” Understand, then, that
those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture
foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel
in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith” (Gal
3:6-9 NIV).
