He Lives Within Us

When Jesus was 12-years-old he accompanied his parents to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. After the Feast Mary and Joseph thought Jesus was in their company when they started home, but Jesus had stayed behind in Jerusalem. Returning to Jerusalem the parents spent three days looking for Jesus before they finally found him in the temple courts sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions. Jesus said to his parents, “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house” (Luke 2:49 NIV)? Today there are those who still look for Jesus in the temple courts — in the church and religious institutions. As followers of Christ it is our responsibility to show those who come to the Lord’s house that Jesus lives in every believer.
