OMG

I find the flippant expression “Oh My God” offensive. However, it is curious that people use the word “my” in the phrase. For example, when a believer says my God is an awesome God, we use it as a term of endearment and as a claim of a personal relationship with God. I wonder if it registers with people who use OMG as an exclamation point that they are referring to God as my God. The psalmist said, “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:2 NIV, emphasis added).
