After I complete
a transaction it’s my habit to tell the clerk or customer service representative,
“Have a good day.” During my last trip
to Walmart the clerk who scanned my purchases turned our brief encounter into
an opportunity to share his faith in God. When he handed me my receipt the rote
phrase “have a good day” didn’t seem quite adequate; however, “Have a blessed
day” rolled easily off my tongue. Paul said, “Consider Abraham: “He believed
God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Understand,
then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The
Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced
the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of
faith” (Gal 3:6-9 NIV).
