Chew on That

In general, it seems like media coverage of the church and religion is often slanted, lopsided and liberal. Not long ago on a Fox News TV segment, Cal Thomas made an observation that most reporters aren’t educated in theology or church affairs, nor do they want to take time to educate themselves in those areas. Consequently, stories written about issues in the church reflect the reporter’s lack of knowledge. I’d like to say that’s no excuse and demand that the news be ‘fair and balanced’. The reality is that many Christians are just as guilty when it comes to educating themselves. We can’t expect the media to chew on religious meat when we ourselves are satisfied with milk. (Hebrews 5:11-14)

Gail;
----I would like to take your observations about the reporters reflecting their lack of knowledge in their work one step further. I honestly believe that they have in their minds what they believe the church and society should be, and that is not at all what the Word of God states it should be. I am convinced that it is from this thinking that their reflections flow through to the public in a flood of half-truths and outright lies. They indeed, in my understanding and observations, are very active in the spirit of antichrist that has been out in the world since the time of the beloved apostle John.
----With no intention of diminishing your statement at all, it is not fairness and balance that I wish to see in the news, it is honesty and truth. For sometimes honesty and truth does not seem fair and balanced. That is why it does not play well when deceit has effectively become a blanket over the social mind. It is so unfair and so unbalanced to make all of those accusations about what has become accepted in a much deceived public. But that is too bad: truth is truth, and that is what should play in Peoria.
----And just like you stated it, what plays in Peoria is what you and I are willing to allow to stand as statements at large. In these troubling times of massive media fraud and deceit, it becomes all the more important that you and I, the individual, demand well prepared meat and potatoes from those who would be leaders of our churches. If Jesus Christ reigns unequivically, then so should His Word, and it alone should be fed to the flock. Lord have mercy! Lord come quickly!
