From the Grave

Jerry Falwell was a political thorn in the side of politicians and their platforms. While his opponents often tried to silence him, it’s ironic that in death the media gives him another chance to speak as they replay sound bites from his religious and political life. I find God’s timing for Falwell’s death fascinating. Just as the 2008 presidential campaign debates begin we’re hearing his voice from the grave reminding us that conservative Christians can and do make a difference. At times Jerry Falwell was careless with his words. Like the rest of us, he too will be held accountable for the careless words he has spoken. In Jerry’s case he just happens to have his recorded on earth as well as in heaven!

Gail;
-----Bro. Falwell was among a small band of brothers who used the spotlight God shined upon them to safeguard our country and way of life from a tsunami of humanist irrationalism. When you look at the chain of events you see in an early link Brother Falwell bringing the conservative Christians together into a political identity that was able to gain the public ear. By that ear a sentiment in the American people grew into a groundswell that swept Ronald Reagan into the White House. President Reagan not only brought down the iron curtain in Berlin, he also brought down the hush curtain in the USA. Certainly by the timing of the Lord, the public radio waves were finally given freedom of speech at the same moment a young Kansas City Royals announcer was outgrowing his small time job. After a short stint on California radio waves, Rush Limbaugh was nationally syndicated to become a beacon of truth shining on the face of a dark ocean of political bias. Chills go up my spine when I imagine what would have become of our country and culture if Rush Limbaugh, Barry Farbarr, Michael Reagan, Sean Hannity, Rusty Humphries, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, and numerous regional voices were not there to expose the flood of trickery, deceit, and often outright lies that the Hollywood elite and the news gurus spew from their mouths.
-----Admittedly, if Brother Falwell had not humbled himself to the Lord and served as that early link, the Lord would have found another. His purposes will be served. But it was Jerry who stepped into that gap. And as small or large as any one of us may be, the Lord has a gap for each of us in His chain of events and purposes. And as we all saw at times in Brother Falwell’s activities, even though a chain link is rusty and pitted, it is sufficient to hold tight in its particular place within the chain-work that links together His people and purposes.

Coverage of Jerry Falwell's life has been very biased by the mainstream media. It's like listening to a broken record. Every article I have read has sited the same "careless words". The press seems to be trying to trivialize and discredit Falwell's efforts in the political arena. They are also presenting him as a rather one dimensional character. Very little has been written about his family life or the people he touched with his ministry. Time Magazine's article on Falwell's passing was entitled "Jerry's Kids". I felt the title suggested that anyone who subscribed to Falwell's values must have a diminished mental capacity. I don't know why I am so surprised when the media shows its true colors in such bold fashion.

Gail, there was a guy on 'Hannity and Combs' who is an atheist. He made it known just how much he hated Jerry Falwell because of his influence in the political arena, among other things. He stated that, "It's too bad there isn't a hell for him to go to!"

Talk about the hatred of the left, and unbelievers towards Christians and conservatives!

It's too bad that he refuses to believe that there IS A HELL, and that's where HE will go. (If he doesn't accept Jesus as Savior.)
