Meeting God

I caught a snippet of a TV interview with a deep-sea diver who found himself in deep trouble while swimming with sharks. Describing his fear he said, “It’s as near to God as you can get. The trick is to stay near to God - and not meet Him.” Obviously the man has some level of understanding about God, mortality and judgment. Eventually we’re all going to meet the Lord, but for believers the trick is to stay near to God - and be ready to meet Him.

Gail;
-----Paul made a play on the words, “dying daily.” Of course we can not die each day. But in as much as separation is death, we die more each day as we daily strive to separate the focus of our interest from ourselves. Now, I know I will not meet God face to face until I die. But by a similar play on words, for many years I have relished the idea that the more I die to myself daily the more of God I do meet. So how much of God I meet on this side of actual death becomes partly my responsibility. And I know that fear has improperly played a limiting role in how much of that responsibility I have met. When I stand at now and look into the future I often realize just how much of God I can meet before I die, but what interests will have to be paid becomes the confusing question.
