Shards of Sin
The other night my husband shattered a drinking glass when he dropped it on the kitchen floor. The large pieces were easily swept up. However in cleaning up the small pieces I vacuumed, dust mopped, wet mopped and even used a sticky lint roller. The floor is clean enough to eat off of, but occasionally when the light is just right I’ll still find a shard of glass. I’m wondering if sin, like the water glass, can shatter. That would certainly help explain the slivers of sin I chew on when I put my foot in my mouth.

Gail;
-----Rom 3:12 “All have turned away, they have together become worthless, there is no one who does good, not even one.” I used to think Paul was being pretty bleak in his assessment of mankind. But he was being truthful. Even if we try hard to be right in our actions and thoughts, the size of our minds in which we must hold our knowledge of the Word is incredibly smaller than the meaning of His Word. A few have come to have a usable memory of the entire Bible. Yet all of the implications of that book can not even be registered in a lifetime. Even if one could grasp all of its implications, still all of the facts and circumstances concerning the lives of the people in our proximity are unavailable to any one mind for discerning a proper alignment with them before God.
-----Besides, who does try hard to understand the facts and circumstances of another in order to relate properly? We make little effort to come to the awareness of facts and circumstances other than those of our own lives, let alone giving the effort it takes to become fully understanding of them. Even if we did have the mind for perfect behavior, we do not have the heart for it.
-----And we think we have the sin in our lives under control! We are continually stepping on toes and elbowing ribs in ways we do not even begin to realize. In heaven the ability to know and relate to all details of another person’s life is real. And there they have the heart for it. Perfection happens in God’s presence. But here it is not possible. Therefore His presence here is through grace. And our participation in Him is through our graciousness more than it is through our legalism. Thank God he has given us healing skin to deal with all the sinful little slivers.
