An Answer to Prayer

Recently I took a writing assignment and when I called to set up an appointment for the interview the woman, a fellow believer, seemed overcome with relief. “You’re an answer to prayer!” It was then I who felt overcome. I know that during my life I’ve been a blessing to others, but I don’t ever remember being described as answer to prayer. “The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous” (Proverbs 15:29 NIV).

Gail;

-----A few centuries ago relics were highly treasured by the church and the reality of God was perceived in personal life. Both were important to belief. The relics (though most were not what they were claimed to be) were the tracks and fingerprints of God. Ghosts and demons and angels were out and about, available to be the reasons the inexplicable happened. We scoff at that. All of it. The relics. The ghosts. Demons. Angels. We live in a society whose mind tries to sanitize in the bleach of scientific principles and theorems and facts, but only fouls in the filth of deceit made of abundant evidence for the truth of God twisted into pretzels of evolution and billions of years.
-----Today relics are called artifacts and archeology digs them up to understand man’s past, a process which works only when it examines the Word of God as also an artifact. And it is the strangest artifact man possesses. It is itself inexplicable by the bleach of science. Scrub as hard as it may, Israel held together as a people just like the artifact was saying they would twenty-five hundred years before. Israel is back as a nation in the land the relic before said that God would establish them in. The nations around Israel are filled with hatred for Israel and are stirring themselves into a hateful lather just as the relic said they would, and even said who they would be, and they are now seen as those. The relic is full of details about today written two millennia ago.
-----But even more impressive evidence for belief than that is the evidence which comes from believing. Just as the relic said, practicing righteousness still produces goodness, and practicers of righteousness pray with great effect. Of all the evidences of God’s existence, the answers to simple, honest, humble prayers are the most abundant. We yet read, personally, the most important relic mankind holds. And prayer’s abundant evidences yet adorn the personal lives of all its readers.

Love you all,
