A Wise Man

I found a source that credits the “Three Stooges” (1941) for the line, “If I want your advice, I’ll ask for it.” Unfortunately in today’s society we have taken that idea to heart and we don’t give advice unless someone first asks us for it. Although a few people asked Jesus for advice, more often than not he offered unsolicited advice, and he did so without hesitation of how it would be received. For many of us, receiving unsolicited advice is similar to planting a seed — somethings just need time to germinate. The writer of Proverbs said, “The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice” (Pro 12:15 NIV).

Gail;

-----Jesus saw Nathaniel under a fig tree without seeing him under a fig tree. He knew the Samaritan woman at the well before He met her. He knew Zacchaeus, too. It must have been something He had going on with His Holy Spirit. He always knew what was the right thing to say at the right time to say it because He knows by the Spirit, not by sight.
-----We’re not quite like that. We’ve got a whole lot of guessing going on in our decisions because our eyesight is like a pair of very dark sunglasses to our spiritual sight, and our thoughts and emotions are like its blindfolds. I’ve opened my mouth with unsolicited advice before, only to find that in my haste I had totally misconstrued the situation. That’s embarrassing.
-----However, once we’ve become reasonably informed about a matter, our responsibility to speak truth and wisdom appears.

Love you all,
