The Measure You Use

Max Lucado, best-selling author and well known pastor, jumped into the political fray and during a TV news interview denounced Donald Trump as not being a Christian. Lucado now seems to be softening his thoughts and said he, “…believes the Republican presidential candidate is giving Christians a bad name.” I am astounded that a minister of Lucado’s stature and biblical knowledge would publically judge another. Jesus said, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Matt 7:1-2 NIV).

-----Please don’t take offense at this, none is intended, but every time I see “…best selling author and well known…” I think, “…knows how to stroke and feed lemmings.” Lemmings come in every brand. There are left-wing ones, lots of those, and the world is growing in Muslim lemmings, and there are “truther” lemmings who think W dynamited the World Trade center, and I remember all the “Elvis is still alive” lemmings who were akin in mental nature to the “we’ve been visited by alien” lemmings.
-----Of course, the interesting thing about lemmings is that they are not always 100% wrong in what they pursue over the cliff. Left-wing lemmings are attracted to the philosophical concept of “share” which left-wing tyrannies exploit. I do admire the soul of Islamic belief -faithfulness. It’s just that faithfulness needs aimed at the right goal. W didn’t dynamite anything, but he sure was anxious to finish his daddy’s business with Iraq. And yes, Elvis is alive. The body dies but not the spirit. He sang some gospel, and when circumstances presented the choice he seemed to acknowledge Jesus rather than deny Him. I hope Elvis is waiting there for us. Now Jesus wasn’t exactly an alien as we think of them. Nor was either Gabriel or the angel which gave John a tour through the Tribulation. But excepting Jesus, they sure weren’t human. Nor were they born on earth. They came here from elsewhere, kind of fitting the description of “alien”.
-----So, since lemmings chase what yet has a smidgeon of truth, it’s not all bad to be a lemming, although it’s not mostly good. And recognizing that little bit of right in a particular lemming kind is instructive for what rhetoric will gather them to some Pied Piper’s “ever teaching” feet. Am I wrong about this, Rick Warren? Max?
-----Let’s not forget, though, that God has all kinds needing fed. The feeders are not perfect since they are men, all of that category being false. So the feeders are going to be a little false just like are all the eaters. Lots of people eat Max’s pablum, and Rick’s, and Ellen G. White’s, and you get the drift. So it isn’t totally bad to be a Lucado lemming. After all, we must consider that the Supreme Lemming Leader merely chose “sheep” for this metaphor rather than “lemming” and “Shepherd“ rather than “Lemming Leader“. But in a way, isn’t it somewhat the same? (though lemmings are led over cliffs while sheep are led to pasture.) We are all false, but He is true (Rom 3:4.) More attention given The Head of the church than given the church's pop-stars pays precious dividends in peaceful pastures rather than broken bones on rocks below.

Love you all,
