Circulated to This Very Day

The articles I write for an online newspaper aren’t always appreciated. I report the facts of what I see and hear, but there are those who don’t want to hear that truth. They prefer I spin the situation to put them in a good light. In other words, they would rather have a press release than a news release. The situation is biblically familiar. The soldiers guarding the tomb of Jesus experienced the violent earthquake and the empty tomb and reported what happened to the chief priests. “When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day” (Matt 28:12-15 NIV).

Gail;

-----There’s many ways of selling out. Like Judas and the soldiers, it can be done for money, one to betray to the authorities, the other to cover up a truth. The Word of God states clearly that, “…God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light…there was evening and there was morning, one day…God created man in His own image…there was evening…there was morning, a sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished…and He rested on the seventh day from all His work.” (Gen 1:3-2:2) “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month…all the fountains of the great deep burst forth…” (Gen 7:11) “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Yet one plague more I will bring upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go…’ the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea…And the people of Israel ate the manna forty years till they came to a habitable land…it is the Lord our God who brought us and our fathers…out of the house of bondage, and who did those great signs in our sight…and the Lord drove out before us all the peoples…” (Ex 11:1-Josh 24:18) What giant swaths of the Holy Word of God are controverted by our selling out to scientism’s assumptions! “Let God be true though every man be false.” (Rom 3:4) Yet for the price of falsifying huge portions of God’s Word, we run into the open arms of modern popularity, unto that pat-on-the-back from a bunch of biased geeks whose own life experiences don’t extend any further into the past than one hundred years, yet who have everything to say about what happened three thousand years ago because they got a potshard and a fossil!
-----Not me! I've got God's Word! I won’t sell out God’s Word for the spittle sprayed from scientism’s pomping lips! God help them. Most of them honestly think in their minds they know the truth proclaimed by their potshard and fossil, so they pay no regard to the tiny tug in their hearts whispering, “There‘s more information.”
-----Why were not the sold out soldiers’ lies successful in stamping out the growing story of Jesus’ resurrection? “And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and yielded up His spirit…and the earth shook, and the rocks were split; the tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.” (Matt 27:50-53) God has some information of His own (God in heaven, Thank you for information. Amen.)
-----Now, if you were living in 1st Century Jerusalem, and you heard a story brought to you from the leaders that Jesus’ disciples snuck His dead body away, are you going to believe it while your neighbor’s house down the street is crawling with the entire neighborhood because ole Sid, whom you all mourned and buried six months ago, is this morning sitting and eating Wheaties?
-----“Hey! How did you get back alive, Sid?“
-----“Oh. I think by Jesus rising from the dead.“
-----“I thought His disciples snuck off with His body.“
-----“Believe me, they didn’t!“
-----“Well Sid, what can we say?“
-----”You know what you need to say.”
-----Alas. Not every neighborhood had a Sid. Nor will most people search for information any further than their stubby little arm’s can reach. And thus, we must live with the dark effects of the sell-outs who‘ve never looked for Sid.

Love you all,
