Power Source

We have so many power sources in the house that I literally do not need a flashlight or nightlight to walk through the house when it’s dark. Those glowing red, green, blue and amber LED spots show the computer, the printer, the TV cable box, coffee pot, CO2 detector, alarm clock, cell phone charger, etc. In the spiritual arena it’s no wonder that people fail to see the light of Christ in us when we walk around giving credit to so many other power sources — natural talents, finances, health, social status, heritage, linage, and self-esteem, self-righteousness. Jesus told his disciples, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light” (John 12:35-36 NIV).

Gail;

-----Every one of those power sources plug into an electrical outlet. That outlet is not even the power source. It’s nothing but tiny holes in the wall unless the house is wired into the powerline outside. Of course, that isn’t even the power source. We can follow those lines through distribution stations to a power generator. Now we would think we’ve found the power source! We even call it a “generator”. But lo, it only gathers the free electrons from its surrounding environment and sends them off through the lines to your wall outlets where we misapply the term “source” to what are really small transformers.
-----Nor does all this make the ground and surrounding environment the power source, like so many mistakenly worship sister earth and sister nature. Neither are my mother, for the same God who made me made them. They’re my siblings, and they’re no more sources than am I. God made them in Him to provide power to their siblings. He is truly the power source in all ways.
-----Thank you so much for peeling off the label covering our access to the details. The things I’ve studied and trained in, the experiences I’ve had and learned from, the repetitions by which I’ve sharpened my abilities, are not my skill sources. Like our homes are wired into infrastructure which merely gathers the power God put into the environment, my bodily wiring merely taps into the cascade of motion we call reality that, in the final analysis, is made by Him and directed by Him to serve His purposes. He is indeed the source of all things because all things have their being in Him, “for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Col 1:16-17) Hell doesn’t need to be fire and brimstone to be torturous. In fact, it is also referred to as "outer darkness." It’s simple state of being unplugged is a bad enough condition for me to avoid.

Love you all,
Steve Corey

Steve,
Thanks for the added insight and highlighting the difference between Power Source and outlet.
