In his Sunday
sermon my pastor mentioned two prominent, celebrity-type preachers who are
going through a crisis of faith. I’m guessing the pastor did not give their names
because he didn’t want the appearance of having spread rumors about another
pastor. However, it’s important for us to know the names of celebrated
Christian authors, speaker or leaders who go over a spiritual cliff and renounce
their faith, if for no other reason than we no longer purchase their books. Paul
said, “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith
and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such
teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared
as with a hot iron” (1 Tim 4:1-2 NIV).
