Exposed Folly

As the political landscape heats up, so does the rumor mill. There is an undeniable wickedness in men who perpetrate lies about others and Paul describes men who oppose the truth as having depraved minds. What’s aggravating is that once a lie starts making the rounds it’s almost impossible to get the truth out. However I’ve just found some comfort in the account of Jannes and Jambres, two men who opposed Moses. It’s reassuring to know that sometimes we’re simply dealing with folly and that others can see it clearly for what it is. “But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.” (1 Tim 3:9 NIV)

Gail;

-----I wish I could say that folly becoming clear to everyone occurs in more immediate contexts than in just the spiritual one. Don’t get me wrong. Folly does become clear to some people at some times, and it will certainly become clear to everyone at one time. I can not place that particular moment chronologically amongst the other few of its era. But I do know it is very proximate to the moment every knee shall bow and every tongue confess.
-----Jesus Christ is the truth. That is why He is abiding. Only truth abides. Deceit, on the other hand, must be maintained by the deceiver. This one fact lets the truth about deceit out of the bag - deceit is not abiding. Think about that the next time you’re asked, “Well, man, who’s to say what’s true?” The proper response is that truth itself says what is true. It speaks with a simple voice, yet it speaks deeply.
-----While it is useful to know something by knowing it’s opposite, noting what is missing is useful for knowing the voice of the truth. Deceit is a wrap of endless excuses and carefully selected anecdotes, tales, and yarns around the core of a mere notion. Truth is an inarguable point naturally accreting its own evidence regardless of man’s aid or resistance. Every piece of its evidence has verifiable reason for having accreted there in the first place. In other words, to one who is to say, evidence is no mere excuse or fanciful tale, it is a most precious trail. And only the ones having a childlike humility of admitting to evidence will know the trail leading to the truth. They are who is to say.
-----Between now and the moment every knee bows with confessing tongue, folly becomes no clearer to everyone than great is the penchant to speak of those who are to say. But that is not to say folly is cleared just by the speaking of truth. It is cleared by the acknowledgment of truth. As you well know, for good reasons and for bad, to good effects and to bad, people don’t acknowledge everything they hear. Some need evidence. Others need excuses.

Love you all,
