Easter’s Role

Not satisfied with trying to take Christ out of Christmas, there is an attempt to take Christ out of the resurrection. In some areas of the country there is a move to stop using the term Easter Egg Hunt and rename it the Spring Egg Roll (Chinese anyone?). According to Websters, Easter is a feast that commemorates Christ's resurrection and is observed with variations of date due to different calendars...” At first I started getting myself worked up, but then realized this is simply history repeating itself. For over 2,000 years enemies of the cross have tried to keep Jesus in the tomb. Pilate gave the first order, “‘Take a guard. Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.’ So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.”   (Matt 27:65-66 NIV) I see a striking similarity in the Spring Egg Roll to that of rolling a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb.

Gail;

-----Somebody is engineering a society. It has been going on for a long time. And they are being very successful. We might not think so because they were forced to do a little backup on “Christmas.” But they will soon return to fight that battle again. For there is one thing they know, persistence wins. And the time it takes for persistence to work is their friend. They own the public schools. And they own the imagery markets of entertainment. And they’ve been constructing new social imagery for several generations now, replacing those sordid old traditions which made America “bigoted“.
-----I’ve never been naturally inclined to take serious these discussions about what “they” are doing to us, even if a bit of pondering certainly reveals that somebody is doing something in a seemingly concerted effort. “They” invites personal biases to raise a smoke screen masking the identity of who is at the controlling cause of it all. If you don’t know its identity, you don’t know what weapons will overcome. Your blog did a very good job of avoiding any reference to “them.” So. Now I must explain myself, or more accurately, “them”
-----I’m first inclined to blame it on the liberals and the atheists. They seem to go hand in hand. And we’ve all seen plenty of their scornful mugs on our TV screens shredding one aspect or another of what made our society good. But who gives them marching orders and lists of talking points, and were they really sitting in a briefing room this morning with “them”. “They” don’t ascend up a chain of command to a man at the top, do they, strategizing and passing out specific agendas? That’s for later. Right now they are countless individuals involved in various associations forming a process around a theme developed by many long-dead philosophers passing big popularity from one to the other in succession, tying misperception into history, and weaving blissful dreams from the threads of deceit. They are not as much people as they are generally accepted ideas from generally accepted books written by generally praised men and passed down as fundamentals for the formulation of social thought and personal commitment.
-----Gee. That description could fit us, if you think about the church and the Bible and the men whose hands wrote it, and of course, if you replace the threads of deceit with threads of truth, and the misperception of history with perception. And now it becomes a bit easier to grasp the what and how of a terrible beast rising out of the sea. We can’t control it or stop it. It is all of us in the bit that we each weave a few threads of deceit. It is mostly those who effervesce glee over anything subtly contrary to God’s Holy Word. It is especially those who impugn any involvement of God’s principles in a discussion as “Bible thumping.” Yes, for a moment it was even Bill O’Reilly. They are anyone in any moment who speaks a bit of twisted idea onto the records of another’s memory. Yes. It is too often me, as well.
-----Now that we know the who of “they”, what’s our weapon? Truth. And picks and shovels for mining it like gold and silver, minds for weaving it, hands and feet for living it, mouths for speaking it, and hearts for doing it more, relentlessly more. And although in the face of all your efforts darkness will eventually blanket the world, that truth you take to hand bit by bit and share with whoever around will burst forth one Day, not by your efforts but because of them, and will mightily Bible thump to the very last grape of wrath.

Love you all,
