In An Instant

There is discussion and debate on the religious landscape concerning the Lord’s return and how it might be possible that “every eye will see him” at one moment in time (Rev 1:7). I find it curious that people often try to use a spiritual litmus test for events that accompany the work of Jesus, yet no one bats an eye at the supernatural events associated with the devil. After 40 days in the dessert Jesus was tempted by the devil, “The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world” (Luke 4:5 NIV).

Gail;

-----There’s not a whole lot of thinking going on down here. But I think you’ve hit the nail square on the head. Jesus raised Himself from the dead and was then experienced by many people. They talked with Him, touched Him, and watched Him eat. Obviously His body was real. Yet He appeared, disappeared, and rose into the sky at will. We believe we all will be raised in like manner. And that when Jesus returns, with a mere breath, He will annihilate everyone opposing Him. Thereafter children will play with the lions, the lions will eat straw, life will be long again, and there will be no war. We don’t try to find some material explanation for how any of that will occur. We just take it at God’s Word. But this is the very point you make.
-----Let’s put an end to the “the world will watch it on TV” thing. By the time the final bowl of wrath has been poured, everything in the sea will be dead, the sea and all rivers and streams will be blood, and the cities all around the world will have been leveled by an earthquake the magnitude of which man has never before experienced. I suppose the satellites would be safe, depending on what might cause such a catastrophic earthquake. But what levels the cities of the nations will surely level the power plants of the nations. And the power distribution lines. And the TV broadcast studios. This is just not “life as usual” at His return to rule the earth.
-----Obviously, man will at least pass through a state wherein the spiritual realm will make great effect upon the physical realm, because nothing is going to live on this earth beyond all its water turning to blood without it being cleaned up and fishes recreated in the oceans. Once again, we don’t have to scratch our heads. He who turned water to wine will turn water to blood, then back to water, and as He created fishes all processed and ready to eat in an instant for thousands, twice, He will create fishes swimming around as if nothing ever happened. I think it is a bit silly to believe God stretched the universe out from nothing, then is limited by our experiences in what He might do with this minuscule speck of dust in it. We haven’t seen anything yet. Go ahead, Jesus, make Your day.

Love you all,
