Dissemination

Recently a laborious political email (bcc) was sent to a number of people in the community. When printed out the document, mostly single spaced, was 10 pages long. It should come as no surprise that by the time readers got through the information they completely ignored the disclaimer at the end of the document. Citing the Electronic Communication Privacy Act 18 2510-252, “… you are hereby notified that any dissemination or copying of this email message is strictly prohibited.” Needless to say the email was disseminated, forwarded and found its way to the media. I’m reminded that Jesus too attached a disclaimer to some of His miracles. Jesus healed two blind men and then warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region” (Matt 9:30-31 NIV).

Gail;

-----I think it might have been hard for the two blind men not to say anything. Communities are usually tight knit enough that the blind, lame, and otherwise impaired folks are recognized fixtures, if they or their care givers get out and around much at all. Then one day the blind guy from down the street is standing out front admiring the sight of your rose bushes. That isn’t going to go without notice. Neighbors would be pressing to know. But even more, the man who had never seen anything now seeing everything is hard to keep quiet.
-----We live in a similar situation as those blind men. A few hundred years ago the normal mentality of the Western world recognized the existence of God and the authority of His Word. It was a cultural thing. Then after waves of “holy” war washed back and forth across the European continent scorching the perceptions of careless thinkers, critical accusation of God’s Word slowly became popular. It would not have been a problem if it had actually been what it was claimed to be -critical analysis. But it wasn’t. It was done under the damning control of a deeply ingrained bias to find Scripture to be nothing more than literature, and therefore God to be a myth. The bias was pervasive. Today, the cultural eye of the Western world is blinder than any bat, and the mind behind its eye is stupefied by a science which would otherwise glorify God had it not been constructed from the fibers of an innate hostility against spiritual truth.
-----It would be a pleasure if the Lord would heal this blind beast. But He’s chosen to stomp it in its proper time, leaving its place for the few who daily wash their eyes in a pure desire for truth as it is - unaffected by anyone’s bias. And even before the stomping begins He has given wondrous sights for those who desire to see. Almost like standing up in the crowd and speaking out to His scoffing accusers, archeological evidence has begun blistering the hide of bold face liars. A simple thing like a boy searching for his goat led to a cache of ancient documents proving the integrity of the entire Old Testament text and ending the many idiotic claims of “Christian interpolations” regarding Messianic prophecies therein. Soon the fools were clucking about no reference to any King David existing outside the Bible, as if the Bible can not be taken as an excellent source of history on its own. A couple decades later, a piece of inscription made by a 10th century BC Moabite king bragged about his defeating “beth Dawid”, the House of David. Uh. “Ok, then,” the scoffers replied, “David existed, but as the leader of a little ban of merry men and was much later embellished into a legendary king.” But after a couple more decades two large tax collection jars of this “little band of merry men” were found far too distant from their “little territory” for them to have been just a “little band of merry men“. After many years of speculation and accusation regarding Sodom and Gomorrah, Steven Collins used the Bible to locate the real city and unearthed its blasted and scorched ruins to the verification of God’s Word. From the discovery of Caiaphas’ ossuary, crucifixion nails and all, to the discovery of the “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus” ossuary to the discovery of texts in old monasteries indelibly tying the Shroud of Turin to the Image of Edessa, exposing it as being the actual photograph of the resurrection, God is shining light into the blind eyes of our generation. But this time He’s not wanting us to go home silently!

Love you all,
