Some
employment ads are so vague that you can’t really tell what is expected, while
other are so specific you know right away whether or not you are qualified.
I can’t help but wonder if the disciples, upon their first encounter with Jesus,
thought they were being hired for a new job rather than being called to evangelism.
“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon
called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for
they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and
I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their
nets and followed him” (Matt 4:18-20 NIV).
