Keep Watch

Arriving late to church one of our ladies sheepishly shook her head as she realized she’d forgotten to set her clock ahead an hour. Watching her slip into a chair triggered my thoughts about the reaction of those who will be late for the Second Coming. Unlike my tardy fellow parishioner, these folks won’t get past the closed door much less find an empty seat. Who knows, maybe Jesus forewarned us about Day Light Savings when He said, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” (Matt 25:13 NIV)

Gail;

Please allow me to flip the coin. If these tardy parishioners had known Daylight Savings time started that Sunday, they would not have dared been late. Their hearts were primed for right; they were simply not fed relevant information. Had I not noticed a sign hung at a local convenience store reminding employees to reset the store clocks, or had my wife not noticed a piece in the local paper informing of the change, we would have been late to church as well. Disseminating information is critical, whether as directly as did Char’s source, or as indirectly as did my source. Jesus needs us to also be disseminators of the information concerning His return. Will we post it in public places or hang signs where passers-by can see?

Love you all,
Steve Corey
