Window Washer

When I met Tom, we shook hands and he asked me to “come into the light” so he could see what I was saying. Obviously he used lip reading to supplement his hearing aids. Tom stopped by the new church building while some of us were cleaning and he wanted to know if he could clean the windows. In his verbal resume he mentioned that he’d learned to wash windows at a church in Denver. He stated that God had taught him how to do a really good job and that white vinegar was the best thing to clean with. Understanding that we were all cleaning and painting volunteers ourselves, he was quick to say he didn’t expect be paid, he just wanted to serve the Lord. We welcomed Tom, his bucket and his squeegee. When it was time for him to leave he said he’d be back tomorrow to finish the job. "…I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matt 25:35b NIV

Gail;

-----Christian Care Medi-Share tries to provide an affordable alternative to health insurance. In addition to only allowing Christians to participate, they control the amount of claims they must pay by requiring their participants to practice a low-risk lifestyle. Participants must not smoke, drink, be obese, etc. I think it is a good idea, but their reference to their prescribed life-style as a “Christian lifestyle” somewhat obscures the term. Through Paul, the Holy Spirit tells us that we are not to bother and condemn one another over what we allow or disallow in our personal lives. That is actually more an element of the Christian-lifestyle than any “don’t do” on some organization’s list of evils. The deeper one looks into Christian-lifestyle as presented by the Holy Spirit, the more one sees stuff like what this window washer did for your church.

Love you all,
