The Christian Ear is a forum for discussing and listening to the voice of today's church. The Lord spoke to churches,“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Rev 2&3

Saving Business
I find that environmental groups often push their agenda and burden the
public with their demands. Recently I attended a public meeting that was designed
to get feedback on community recycling. There was an ecologically zealous crowd
and the majority in attendance wanted to force city residents to not only
recycle, but those who refused to recycle should be charged more. One woman
said, “We have to save the world, we must
save the world.” It wasn’t the place to burst her bubble, but I would have
loved to tell her that the world cannot be saved. “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the
first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.” (Rev 21:1
NIV)

Gail;
-----I must be part dog. My first inclination at any problem is to dig up its basic structure. And then finding it isn’t enough. I have to chew on that bone until I can identify and understand its every flavor. I don’t know if many or most environmentalists spouting this “save the world” ignorance are good people. If I were forced to pick one I would intuitively guess that most are good people who are not entirely ignorant either. At least that’s what their actions and messages taste like. So intentions are not at the bottom of the hole, not even good ones. What lies deep down there is that same sinuous fiber of every other destructive intention, good or bad: deceit. Those who built Hitler’s crematories were steeped in it. Those who think man’s supreme purpose is to preserve the wilderness state of the earth are steeped in it. Those who think the wild state of the earth is its natural state are steeped in it.
-----The truth is that God created information for man’s consumption and humble pondering in two places. The chronologically first information source He created was His Word before the foundation of the heavens and the earth. The second source is the physical universe that is the heavens and the earth. The information written into both sources is extracted by the same process: humble and reverent listening through obedient response. Whether it is, “Honor thy mother and father,” or the sight of a rock tossed over a cliff shattering upon the canyon floor, the experience of confining one’s actions to the boundaries observation sets around either unpacks a wealth of further information. Oddly enough, the information found written in the ways of the physical universe completely correlate with the information found in the Word.
-----What does not correlate is the deceit found in the world. Now, deceit is not information. It is the twist and the purpose behind that twist upon information. Information is always true. Incorrect correlation of information is deceit. If you think about what you know you will notice most all of it is conclusions drawn by others and taught to you. I assure you, it is not all true. Therein is the deceit passed around the world: the more are the people who believe an idea the more closely will people hold to the idea and the more “true“ the idea will become in and of itself. Belief in the idea unfortunately has little to do with its actual verification.
-----Of course, deceit is deceit regardless. And the only way to see through it and discover the actual truth is to search for the truth yourself. Thousands of different paths lead towards truth, but the path of truth leads through the Word to Jesus Christ. He saves the world, not necessarily the dirt and air and stuff, but there will forever be a nice place to live without any environmental neurosis whatsoever.
Love you all,
Steve Corey
