Leading a Rebellion

Recently a local veteran group installed a retired colonel as their new leader. Reading his quotes in the newspaper the commander isn’t satisfied with simply leading the local chapter of veterans. Taking issue with the government for not listening to the people, he is prepared, if necessary, to start a revolution, overthrow the government, and run all the non-patriots out of town.

Apparently his new found authority has gone to his head and he hasn’t yet noticed that the troops he is trying to rally are no longer on active duty. They don’t have to obey his leadership…nor do they have to pay their dues to the organization. “A violent man entices his neighbor and leads him down a path that is not good.” (Proverbs 16:29 NIV)

Gail;

-----If such be the case, maybe all the firearms, as well as crossbows, bows, slings, swords and knives, and all varieties of clubs should be removed from our possession and replaced with Bizzaro comic strips. That way we could keep ourselves entertained while learning what we are to think instead of taking philosophical note of what’s happening around us and resisting. The men who drafted this nation onto paper are the real backdrop against which the illustrations of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Khmer Rouge, Che Guevara, Radical Islam, and I will defend its inclusion in this list, the Obama administration should be viewed. The men who gave their lives and fortunes to establish this once great nation did so with the violence of rifles, canons, bayonets, and swords for peaceful freedom. We should passively allow thugs and bullies, left wing marauding barbarians who culture violence in their hearts to peacefully capture and rule over us by our own fear of violence? We give ourselves entirely to the pacifists’ estimations, but what dignity have we left in George Washington’s eyes? I assure you, he was a man more godly than today’s best pulpit-pounders, and the bullet holes in his tunic attest to the Lord’s estimation of his value.
-----I agree with you that this retired colonel has huge misgivings about his previous authority in the military. And I don’t think little bands of rapscallions here, there, and yonder are going to overthrow the lying evil now assaulting our nation. Any militaristic action made to fend off what now subverts the law and order of the land must be substantial in size and plan, rather than some backwater, night raider. So I watch for something different, something I don’t believe will happen.
-----The Lord is yet the Lord of history to come. He used ragtag militias once to create a great nation which He used several times to thwart evil in the world. But by His own words, there comes a time when the restraints against evil must be laid down for the evil one to rise up. Good and evil must have their last dance, so to speak. For that to happen, evil must get to her feet. Even knowing this, I believe in fighting any evil I can, not so much because I think it is critical or even possible to overthrow it, Christ will do that, but rather, because if I do not give it any backpressure at all, then my love for what is right has no integrity. Yet I don’t see more benefit than detriment in solutions of rebellious violence. There are still a few peaceful efforts of better sense left.

Love you all,
