In anyone’s
circle of friends there is always knowledge, or suspicion, of what a person is capable of. I find it curious that when Jesus announced one of his disciples
would betray him, “His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which
of them he meant. One of them, the disciple whom Jesus
loved, was reclining next to him. Simon Peter motioned to
this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.” Leaning
back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it” (John 13:22-25 NIV)? It’s
hard to imagine that the disciples were clueless as to who the betrayer might
be.
