We are to
confess our sins to one another; however, that does not take the place of
asking for forgiveness. Judas betrayed the Lord for 30 silver coins and he then
confessed to the Pharisees, “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed
innocent blood.” Interesting, they responded, “What is that to us?” they
replied. “That’s your responsibility” (Matt 27:4 NIV). On this point I happen
to agree with the Pharisees…it is our individual responsibility to ask for
forgiveness and repair our relationship with the Lord.
