After the
stoning of Stephen, a great persecution broke out against the church at
Jerusalem and Saul began to destroy the church. If something similar happened
to the church in our town today many of us would likely keep our heads down and
pray for the persecution to pass, rather than looking for opportunities to
serve. Luke wrote, “Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever
they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and
proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip
and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he
said” (Acts 8:4-6 NIV).
